Legal news reports that a man who suffered a heart attack has now filed a medical malpractice lawsuit, alleging that his physician's failure to take the proper steps following the discovery of severe health conditions. The personal injury lawsuit alleges that the physician's failure to act led to the man suffering a heart attack, and as a result, becoming permanently disabled.
The first step in treating and helping someone suffering from a medical condition is a proper diagnosis. Once that diagnosis is made, the doctor or other medical personnel will know which steps to take. Unfortunately, failures in the diagnoses of heart attacks, or the failure to take the proper steps can lead to permanent and life-threatening injuries, and in worst-case scenarios, death. That is why is it vital to consult with a Los Angeles medical malpractice attorney if you or a loved one has suffered injuries as a result of a doctor's failure to diagnose your actual medical condition.
According to the facts set forth in the lawsuit, a Louisiana man went to his doctor complaining of increasing angina and numbness in his hands. After going through heart catheterization for two blockages, which revealed severe health concerns, the doctor determined his condition warranted the implantation of stents. Despite his consent to their implantation, the stents were never inserted.
19 days following the surgery, the man suffered a heart attack and sustained significant heart damage. He was notified by his physician that he would be permanently disabled. He has now filed a medical malpractice lawsuit alleging several different claims, including the failure to take adequate precautions.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.
Being diagnosed with any kind of medical condition can be traumatic enough, but to find out your doctor could have taken steps to prevent a serious, life altering medical consequence that could have been treated if it had been properly caught and diagnosed earlier, can be devastating.
