A widow has recently filed a medical malpractice lawsuit alleging that her husband was still alive when doctors declared him dead. The lawsuit further alleges that he the medical staff listened to her when she insisted he was still living, he may have survived.
According to reports, the man suffered a heart attack at a grocery store and was taken to a nearby hospital. He was declared dead within minutes of arriving at the emergency room. Although the widow indicated that she saw him still breathing, the doctors allegedly explained that that although he appeared to be breathing, he really wasn't. Although the man continued to exhibit signs of life, the decedent's vital signs were not check for more than 2 hours. At that point, the doctors then noticed he had a pulse. He was then transferred to another hospital where physicians attempted to revive him, but it was too late. Too much time had passed without medical care and the man experienced respiratory failure and died.
The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages.
