A recently filed medical malpractice, wrongful-death lawsuit asserts that a negligent surgical error caused a man’s death.
According to the lawsuit, a man sustained a fractured vertebra in his back, requiring surgery. Following the surgery, doctors determined it was necessary to place a catheter in his bladder. However, the catheter was misplaced in the man’s abdomen, rather than his bladder. The erroneous placement led to complications, including organ failure, sepsis and eventual death. The lawsuit alleges that the improper placement of the catheter was a direct cause of the man’s death.
Surgical errors are one of the leading types of medical malpractice. When an error occurs that causes harm or in the worst case, death, it may be possible to bring a lawsuit to recover compensation.
In this instance, the lawsuit seeks damages including medical costs, physical, economic and emotional injuries.
